'Tis the season…for luscious Louisiana strawberries.

Sal Petitto's Strawberry Farm on Finks Hideaway Road in Monroe is overflowing with the seasonal bounty.

The Petitto family tradition of growing strawberries began in 1909 in Amite, said Petitto, so he grew up in the business. He started his Monroe operation in 1980.

What's the key to growing great berries, according to Petitto? In a word: weather.
"Got good weather, got good strawberries," Petitto said. "Just that easy."
