A recent addition to the medical technology at one area hospital is a "huge success," according to the surgeon tasked with putting that technology to use.
Monroe Surgical Hospital recently unveiled a Da Vinci surgical robot, which Dr. Daryl Marx said has advanced patient care throughout the region.

"Most importantly, what most surgical patients want to see after a surgery is almost no pain after having a surgery," Marx said. "That's what they're getting so far."

Marx has performed four procedures using Da Vinci since the system came online April 20. Each of those procedures was a gall bladder removal, according to Marx.

"The gradiated approach to robotic surgery is to start with a high-volume procedure," Marx said.
