Mustangs take game 1 in playoff series - River Oaks blasts Kirk Academy 16-6

It took a few innings for the River Oaks Mustangs to get their bats in gear from the long trip to Grenada, MS to tangle with Kirk Academy Raiders.

Trailing the Kirk Academy Raiders 6-1 after four innings, the Mustangs woke up and exploded to score 15 unanswered runs to claim game one 16-6 in the best of three series.
Seniors James Rocket (5-5, 5 RBIs) and Gentry Johnston (2-4, 4 RBIs) led River Oaks in batting.

Mustang senior pitcher Ryan MacGregor earned the win for River Oaks.

The series will now move to Monroe this Thursday when River Oaks host Kirk Academy for game two. on First pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m. If Kirk Academy wins game 2, Game 3 will be played immediately following game two.

"We hope to continue the momentium we started on Tuesday," Coach Johnston said.

Due to their district championship regular season record, the Mustangs were given a first round bye.
