Zack Smith, Head Baseball Coach at Forest High School. Zack was diagnosed on January 26 of this year with T Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. He has been receiving treatments at MD Anderson in Houston since then. Treatments will continue for 36 plus months. That is not a typo… He will have to have treatments for 3 years. This type of cancer is so rare, that Zack is only 1 of 30 that MD Anderson has treated.

Zack is only 31 years old, and he and his wife Lauren have a 13 week old son, Jacoby. Lauren was a full time student at ULM finishing her degree in Elementary Education. She has withdrawn from ULM to be with Zack as they fight this disease together. They have gotten an apartment in Houston since his treatments currently consist of a combination of outpatient and overnight stays.

Forest High School has won the last two Class B State Championships under Zack's leadership. He has been voted the LBCA Class B Coach of the Year the last 2 years.
