Lady Panthers advance - Sterliington will at Rosepine in Regionals

The Sterlington Lady Panthers' softball team took a big first step in reaching their ultimate goal of dancing to Sulphur's Fast Pitch 56 state tournament with a resounding 17-1 victory over the Oakdale Lady Warriors (10-15, 2-8).

The Lady Panthers (24-2, 8-0) started off the game with a little nervous energy allowing the only run that Oakdale would score in the top of the first inning. After that, it was all Sterlington as the Lady Panthers blasted three home runs to send the Lady Warriors back home to Central Louisiana.

Sarah Gandy was the winning pitcher for Sterlington only allowing one hit in the game. In addition to her success on the mound, Gandy excelled in her offensive role for the contest.

Gandy (3-4, 2 HR, 1 3B and 8 RBIs) blasted two home runs in a nine run second inning explosion that propelled this squad to the regional round of the Class 2A playoffs.
