The coveted Most Improved Chorus status came home with Piney Hills Harmony when the group returned from its regional Sweet Adelines competition in Dallas, and 11 of the 24 members on stage were from Ouachita Parish.

The Ruston-based chorus competed with 17 other choruses from five states in the March contest. Piney Hills Harmony scored 74 more points than it did last year, giving it not only Most Improved honors, but also fifth place among small choruses.

Local residents who participated were Karen Downs, Jean Dunham, Donna Fike, Ginger Hicks, Teresa Howard, Peggy Laws , Jennifer Lynch, Carol Ogle , Lea Rutherford, Judy Sisson and Ann Walker.

The group was led by Ruston resident Sheila Nugent, who is in only her second year of directing the chorus.
