Unemployment rate declines slightly in Ouachita

Louisiana's flagging economy continued to show signs of recovery in February, according to Louisiana Workforce Commission.

The state unemployment rate for February stood at 7 percent, according to LWC. The national unemployment rate was 8.3 percent during the same period.

Louisiana's ranks of employed stood at more 1.9 million workers.

"This represents a gain of 4,000 jobs from the previous month, and a 41,100-job increase from February 2011," LWC said in a report released last week.
