Mother nature wins - Weather plays havoc with parish prep baseball and softball
If April showers bring May flowers, Ouachita Parish is in for a colorful May. While the rain is good news for the area farmers, the early part of the week's weather has caused headaches for the baseball and softball coaches in our parish.
Already plagued with a shorter season due to new regulations by the LHSAA, parish baseball and softball coaches are finding themselves on the "play when you can schedule."
"It has been a headache," West Ouachita Head softball coach Jack Goode said. "We had to cancel a tournament game and now this is our second district game to be postponed. We will have talk with the other coaches and see when we can get these games in before the official deadline for the season."
The Lady Chiefs have a tentative make up date for the first postpone district game against Bastrop. Bastrop will travel to West Ouachita on Wednesday, April 4th with a 5:00 p.m. start time.
Photo by Kelley Photography RAIN OUT The Neville Lady Tigers and the West Ouachita Lady Chiefs were forced to their dugouts during a rain delay of the key district showdown on Tuesday. The game was called in the bottom of the 2nd inning with West Ouachita leading 5-3. No date has been set for the make up of this critical softball game. Severe storms on Monday and Tuesday postponed most of the parish's baseball and softball games. Parish coaches are struggling to find dates for make up games. We will have all make game schedules on our website as soon as they have been confirmed.
