Officials tout OCC millage Local officials have taken to the streets to inform the public about the importance of a millage proposition that Ouachita Parish voters will entertain in the April 21 election.
The property tax in question is a 9.2-mill proposition that would fund operations at Ouachita Correctional Center. It would replace a combined 9.2-mill tax the Ouachita Parish Police Jury levied for OCC until Dec. 31, 2011.
Speaking at a meeting of the Monroe Rotary Club late last week, the three highest-ranking elected officials in Ouachita outlined why voters should approve the millage for the parish jail.
