Solons trim budget While Gov. Bobby Jindal's education reform package has been the focus of attention during the regular session, some lawmakers have been quietly and methodically working through the state's proposed budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
They're searching for ways to erase a projected deficit in the proposed $25.5-billion budget without decimating state programs and services.
State Rep. Jim Fannin, D-Jonesboro, is the author of House Bill 1, the bill that provides for the operating expenses of state government for the fiscal year that begins July 1.
