Mayo, Armstrong in runoff With the Monroe mayor's race headed for an April 21 runoff, Mayor Jamie Mayo will face retired physician Ray Armstrong, who ran second to Mayo in Saturday's primary election.
Meanwhile, former Mayo administration official and mayoral candidate Johnny Riley endorsed Armstrong Monday afternoon at a news conference at the Clarion Hotel (formerly the Holidome).
Mayo garnered 4,620 of the 10,939 votes cast in the primary, or roughly 42 percent of the vote. Armstrong pulled 3,972 votes, or 36 percent.
