Sterlington's Board of Aldermen made quick work of a varied agenda at its regular meeting last week.

Aldermen approved hiring a new police officer, discussed flooding and drainage issues and tabled action on its dispute with Louisiana Workforce Commission.

Mayor Vern Breland briefed the board on flooding problems at Sterlington Manor Apartments. During public participation, apartment manager Debbie Taggart said the bottom floors of two of the buildings flooded during recent heavy rainfall.
