2-4A championship series - Chiefs - Tigers to start three game series on Thurs.

Over the weekend, the West Ouachita Chiefs (11-8, 3-0) and Neville Tigers (8-10, 3-0) swept both of their series to set up a showdown next Thursday and Saturday for the District 2-4A title.

"Not taking away from the other teams in our district, West Ouachita is the team to beat," Neville Head Coach Mike Dejean said. "They are a well-coached experienced ball team."

The Chiefs won their three game series against the Franklin Parish Patriots (7-12, 0-3) while the Tigers had little trouble disposing of the Bastrop Rams (7-9, 0-3).

West Ouachita's dominating pitching and defensive efforts stole the show in their series with the Patriots. In game one at Franklin Parish, the Chiefs allowed the only run of the series in their 9-1 victory.

In the double header at West Ouachita, the Chiefs blasted Franklin Parish 10-0 in both games. Saturday's games were called in the fifth inning due to the LHSAA's mercy rule.
