Altick memorial baseball tournament a huge success Editor:
The Trey Altick La. Prep Classic played recently was a success.
Forty-eight teams played in the tournament that is named in memory of Trey Altick. Four different hotels were completely filled by players, coaches, and fans and numerous other hotels hosted fans as well. The economic impact on our area was tremendous.
We would like to thank the coaches and sponsors of this massive undertaking. Ninety-three games were played in a 3 day span at the 10 different host sites, Ouachita, West Ouachita, West Monroe, Ruston, Neville, St. Frederick, Sterlington, Ouachita Christian, Mangham, and Cedar Creek. Special thanks to the Head Coaches at all of these schools along with their booster club leaders and members. Each team was fed after EVERY game, along with a catfish luncheon on Friday afternoon at Ouachita High School with help from Coach Brian Carter, Robert Woodall, several parents, and the Catfish Cabin.
This tournament could not be pulled off without Dr. Jay and Helena Altick, and Dr. Collins and Catherine Coon. They are the two main title sponsors. Catherine and Helena also do ALOT of the work on the tournament, including the luncheon, the t-shirts, and the programs. We especially want to thank the pool sponsors - CFM Enterprises, John Allen, Autoplex Automotive, Ruston-Lincoln Convention & Visitors Bureau, CenturyLink, Home Care Resources, Marucci Elite, North La. Orth. Clinic, Bennett -Seymour Ins, Ryan Automotive Group, Pecanland Mall, and Cummunity Trust Bank. Other sponsors are the Monroe-West Monroe Conv. & Visitors Bureau, Dr. Duke McHugh, Fox's Pizza (Greg McGough), Reflections, and H. Mickels (Diamond Baseballs). Without all of you, we could not possibly be able to host the biggest and best high school baseball tournament in the South.
