District 2-4A Race to the top - Neville / WO front runners
District 2-4A features the number one in the state in the Neville Lady Tigers (13-1, 2-0). This past Thursday, the West Ouachita Lady Chiefs (10-7, 2-1) pushed the Lady Tigers to their limit before falling 2-1in extra innings at Neville's Carl Smith Park.
Neville junior Sarah Aydelott hit a bases loaded single to score the winning the run in the bottom of the eighth inning. West Ouachita's Ashley Hines and Neville's Megan Lively were competing in a pitchers' dual before Aydelott's game winning hit.
Over this past weekend, the schedule didn't get any easier for the Lady Chiefs as they lost three games in Sulphur Tournament. West Ouachita played three Class 5A opponents. In the first game, the Lady Chiefs fell 0-9 to Class 5A number one ranked St. Amant (12-1, 2-0).
In their second game, West Ouachita lost 4-7 to Class 5A number twelfth ranked Live Oak (13-5, 4-0) . In the Sulphur Tournament finale, Class 5A number twenty two ranked Walker (8-8, 2-2) knocked off the Lady Chiefs 6-9.
The other team that is position to compete for the District 2-4A championship is the Franklin Parish Lady Patriots (9-12, 2-1). On Thursday, The Lady Patriots will travel to Monroe to face Neville at Carl Smith Park.
