Rebels head to showdown with St. Augustine posted Thursday, November 19th, 2009 @ 6:00 pm The West Monroe Rebels (11-0) hit the road for the second round of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association football playoffs Friday night as they visit St. Augustine of New Orleans.
The Rebels are coming off a sluggish first-round performance in a 28-17 win over Brother Martin. "We out-dumbed them," West Monroe head coach Don Shows said. "It was nothing they were doing — we just didn't have our composure and we made too many dumb penalties."
West Monroe was flagged 11 times for 115 yards. Several of those penalties were on personal fouls where West Monroe players got upset with what they perceived to be cheap shots by opposing Brother Martin players.
