The Second Annual Christmas on the River will continue this weekend with hundreds of people expected to attend a number of events.

Pamela Bryant with the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau said this past weekend's event attracted hundreds of people for shopping and Christmas-related activities.

The festival kicked off Saturday, Nov. 28, with a special lighting ceremony at Antique Alley. This year, West Monroe's historic downtown features a special synchronized light show which caught the eye of many motorists passing through the area.
